Seed certification - plant quarantine regulations-Netherlands
For seed potatoes the following plant quarantine regulations apply:
- sites where seed is to be grown must be inspected (soil sampling+laboratory test) for the
presence of Globodera spp. and found to be free.
- the crop rotation on each farm is recorded in order to ensure that the existing crop rotation
regulations (a potato crop no more than once every 3 years ) are not violated.
- the sites should not have a recent history of brown rot and ring rot infections.
- seed crops may not be irrigated in areas where surface water is found to be contaminated
with Pseudomonas solanacearum.
- the area should not be known to be contaminated with Synchytrium endobioticum.
- several countries require a certificate that the seed is grown on a farm where Rhizomania has
not been found.
- lots grown in regions where M. chitwoodi and M. fallax are reported, should be tested for the
presence of these nematodes and found to be free.
